Hi All
This week we welcome Bill Barton to the club, he will be telling us about the 150year history of the Orwell observatory.
Bill was a founder member of Society for the History of Astronomy in 2002. In the same year he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. 2003 saw him licensed to operate the Orwell Park refractor (IAU observatory no. 582) on behalf of the Orwell Astronomical Society (Ipswich), which he had joined several years earlier. In January 2020 he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the British Astronomical Association Historical Section. Bill owns some astronomical antiques, such as eyepiece micrometers, planispheres and similar teaching aids. He has more old astronomy books than he likes to admit to. Should be a good one don't miss it.
