[cpastro] Next Meeting Wednesday 8th May 2024, The History of the telescope, David Arditti

Hi All,

        This week we have David Arditti at the club and he will be

         talking to us about "/The History of the telescope/".

         David wrote a book entitled /Setting-up a Small Observatory/,

         in Patrick Moore's Practical Astronomy Series (Springer).

         In 2021 David was elected President Of The British

         Astronomical Association, he currently combines that with

         directorship of the Equipment & Techniques Section.

         David is also a Vice-President of, and Observations Director

         for, the West of London Astronomical Society.

         David is also a composer of music for choirs, singers,

         orchestras, bands, chamber groups and piano.

Hi All,

This week we welcome back Steve Tonkin FRAS and his talk "To Eyes are better than one".

Stephen Tonkin is an experienced binocular astronomer and Is an astronomy author who is engaged in astronomy education and outreach to people of all ages, he has been the Dark Skies Adviser to the Cranborne Chase AONB International Dark Sky Reserve. Since October 2021, and Dark Skies Adviser to the Federation of Astronomical Societies.
